The Bresh Model is available in two versions, the Legacy and the Spirit.
The Legacy is a copy of Merle's famous 1938 Martin D 28 with the custom Bigsby birdseye maple neck. Very few changes have been made from the original, the body ,while shaped like the D 28 is not a Martin....it's a Leach, the peghead logo is "Bresh" instead of "Bigsby" and a Zero fret (a fret at the nut position) has been added at Thom's request (all Leach guitars have the zero fret unless specially ordered...once you play with one you won't go back!) The neck profile and peghead angle are recreated to Merle's specs., a key element in the Travis "feel." Available in a variety of wood combinations. Merle's original was Adirondack spruce and Brazilian rosewood (original materials), due to the ever increasing cost of these two tonewoods we also have available (these choices are included in the (standard materials) Sitka and Englemann spruce, Redwood and cedar for tops, Bolivian and East Indian rosewood for back and sides. Custom woods are also available upon special request. All Legacy inlays are in pearl and the fretboard is unbound as was the original. A special label depicting a caricature of Thom drawn by Travis and signed by Thom.
The Spirit is the same basic guitar as the Legacy, however a little more inlay has been added to make it a little "Flashier"...those of you who know the history of Travis know this is the way he would have wanted it (those of you who know Thom know which he prefers as well!). Abalone trim (similar to a Martin D-45) around the top of the body, around the sound hole, along the fretboard and around the peghead. All inlays are in Abalone instead of pearl. The label in the Spirit is the same as the Legacy except it has been specially recreated over genuine Mother of pearl. Thom's Spirit has the RMC BMT 300 pick up system (Chet Atkins told Thom his was the finest sounding guitar he had ever heard plugged in!......ah..what does Chet know anyway?)
