Hot Rod Inlays

Go-mad Nomad
(About 100 pieces)
This is the first in a series of Hot Rod inlays. This is
a 1957 Chevy Belair Nomad wagon (my personal favorite!) sitting in front of a fictional
Mel's Diner somewhere on the coast of California. Car windows are done using the thin
shell technique, when light hits at one angle the window are transparent (top view), at
another they are opaque (bottom view), the clouds utilize the same effect.
The left rear tail light blinks also (thanks to a red flashing LED from Ira at www.qlighiting.com )
Materials are: Red coral, Sterling silver, turquoise, Corian (several colors), MOP, web malachite, dyed wood veneers, ebony, gold pearl and brass.

The Rad Rod
This car utilizes a new technique I'm developing where
the bulk of the "inlays" are thin white veneer inlayed into several different
materials that are different shades of black. The body is ebony, the tires are micarta and
the background (pickguard) is your typical black PVC. the lighter materials are silver,
white Corian and MOP. the visor and trim around the windows is lapis, the hood scoop is
coral and the headlights are clear Lexan with yellow highlighter on the back.
