Commemorating all the brave people who lost life and loved ones on September 11, 2001

A little perspective:

There are 62 pieces of inlay in this image
With this inlay I wanted to accomplish some things I had been dreaming
about for years. I have always been fascinated with composite graphics done in PhotoShop
where images fade into each other so naturally I wanted to see if the effect could be
realized in inlay. I also wanted to do an inlay that told a story of some significance,
folklore if you will, 9-1-1 is probably the most significant event of this century so far.
I wanted to commemorate this day as something ultimately positive.
I hope you like it.
The headstock area of the guitar is to pay tribute the people from the WTC,and the heroic
rescuers, the rest of the guitar will focus on the flights and the crash site in
Pennsylvania(fretboard) and the Pentagon (soundhole.)
Statue of Liberty alone is composed of over 100 pieces of Malachite, Jade, Varasite and other green recon stones, flames are orange spiny oyster, the Fireman's helmet is Black MOP and sterling silver, the eagle is MOP, Coral, Yellow Corian, ebony and Turquoise. The WTC is Corian, The flags are red, white and blue Corian and the upper eagle is black MOP, MOP and yellow spiny, the mountains are Lapis and MOP "Sparkle" and the background sky is oven-baked clay. Clouds and upper flag are covered with .007 thick MOP veneer to give flashing effect
Parts of this inlay fade into the mist... the two views show the top flag and the clouds around the base of the statue "flashing" on and off (like a hologram!) as the light angle is changed...I've always wanted to inlay fog... Dark and light blue clay was mixed to achieve the effect of the sky behind the statue to slowly darkening as it gets closer to the eagle, blending into the mountain range behind the eagle.
