Eddie Pennington Special

Eddie Pennington is one of the finest thumbpickers alive today. Many consider his style to be the closest to the way Merle did it. Eddie has been playing Leach guitars for several years now and his input has had a great impact on the the way Leach guitars play, sound and feel. We don't guarantee if you buy one you'll sound just like Eddie...but you won't if you don't!

The Eddie Pennington Model features abalone trimmed top, soundhole, fretboard, peghead and pickguard, Merle Travis inspired card deck position markers, high gloss finish and "H.G. Leach" headstock inlay.

Like our Bresh Models, these guitars are designed specifically for "Travis" picking, which just happens to make them ideal for any fingerpicking style, thin, low profile necks, low action and highly responsive tops are the key. Both models are available with a choice of top, back and side woods; redwood, cedar and Sitka spruce for the tops and walnut, mahogany, sycamore and maple for the back and sides (Optional woods include Adirondack spruce and flamed redwood for tops and rosewood, Koa and highly figured standard woods...call for prices.) Rosewood or ebony fretboard, bridge and peghead overlay, gold tuners and hard-shell case are all standard for both models. Eddie's guitars are both redwood and walnut.

Eddie's other Leach (his third!) is an 18" sunburst archtop, that is a copy of a Gibson Super 400 that Merle had custom made, the back and top are both quilted maple and the top is thick (Uncarved on the inside) to add sustain.
